& HOD OF CARDIOLOGY FORMED GUNTUR HEART ASSOCIATION
Architects of Guntur Heart Association
Founder President: Sri Jayabharat Reddy the then
Collector and his successes.
Principal Donor: ITC through Sri R.Ramananda Rao,
Area Personal Officer, ITC.,
who was succeded by Sri P.V.J.Raju.
Special attempts have been made as the first and
founder departmental head namely Sri Dr.P.Lakshmana
Rao, to arouse the public awareness about heart
attacks in our society.
The importance of Guntur with its Tobacco trade
which earns a million dollars worth of foreign
exchange per year (80 lacks then) this fact
was highlighted with request that if they spare
one rupee per Kilogram of Tobacco exported
would provide sustenance for the department of
Heart Disease, Guntur both medical & projected
surgical as well as invasive laboratory. This
ratio could be further enhance with the present
cost consideration. It is in the records of the
Guntur General Hospital that the above fact has
been accepted in Principal by the Central
Government to release the grant to the provinsial
Government. The present MP Sri Y.V.Rao has
graciously agreed to follow the line. Dr.Murali
Babu Rao may pursue the matter.
DR.NUTHAKKI VENKATESWAR RAO GARU -
A MAN OF GREAT VISION
- Person with unflinching dynamism.
- Great source of inspiration for youngsters.
- Always interested in development for the
cause of the poor.
- Ready to help any department.
- Excellent liason between NRIs and GGH., &
GMC
I wish we have 1/10 th of his dynamism!!!
message of Dr.N.V.Rao
The year 1998 - 2000 has seen lot of development in
Government General Hospital, Guntur by way of
improvement in the sanitation and equipping the
departments of Cardiology, Radiology, Radiotherapy,
Gynic, Paediatrics and Casualty. A good facelift
was also given to the existing corridors and clinical
lecture gallery. The adding of facility of providing
biochemistry equipment has added to giving quick
results. A new emergency operation theatre was built
at a cost of 48,000 dollars which was exclusively
funded by Dr.Babu Prasad and Dr.Mrs.Sudha. The
Radiology department was adequately equip by providing
a 500 mA and 300 mA X-ray plant with added imaging
facility to the 300 mA plant. The above equipment was
donated by the GMCANA. The Paediatric department
received from the GMCANA Paediatric ventillator, pulse
oxymeter infant warmors along with Heliotheraphy. The
department of cardiology received Image Intensifier
with TV screen donated by Indian Tobacco Association.
A special note must be made about the department of
cardiology which is being very well managed and
maintained by the professor & Head of the Department
of Cardiology Dr.R.Murali Babu Rao inspite of many
handicaps by way of acute shortage of qualified
medical personale & equipment. Inspite of his very
busy work Dr.R.Murali Babu Rao is the only professor
from Government General Hospital, Guntur who presents
regularly research papers in National & International
Conferences. I wish the other departmental professors
also take to academic work and present papers in
atleast the National Conferences.
In Cardiology Department the increasing load of work
is very well attended to especially due to an account
of the excellent turning out of the workload very
smoothly by Dr.J.Venkateswara Rao MD., the Seniormost
Assistant Professor and also to some extent by
Dr.N.G.Mohanarjun, MD.,DM., Assistant Professor of
Cardiology. The equipment received by the department
from the MP funds, the GMCANA and other philonthropic
body is looked after excellently. If 5 or 6 more unit
chiefs take as much care as Dr.R.Murali Babu Rao in
maintaining the care of the equipment received, the
hospital will be able to deliver better quality of
care. The present Superintendent Dr.K.Anji Reddy is
trying to do his best to improve the facilities in
the hospital. This was possible because of the
increase in the budget of the hospital and by way of
providing adequate funds by the Government and the
munificent donations received from the MPs & other
generous public and association.
