Department of Gastroenterology was created in Guntur
Medical College /Govt. General Hospital in 1986, with one Professor and tow
Asst. Professor and established the Departfment in 1991 July. Dr. Nageswara
Reddy was the first Professor of the Department, who stayled for very short
period. Dr. r. Upendra Prasad succeeded Dr. d. Nageswara Reddy as Professor.
Following People worked as Asst. Professors successively : Dr.V.R.
Jayarrama, Dr. Panduranga Rao, Dr. Jagan Mohan.
Presently Dr. A.H.V. Subbaramaiah is working as professor and head o
the Department of Gastroenterology and Dr. Shariff is working as Tutor in the
Department.
Department of Gastroenterology is conducting three O.P.s and one
Endoscopy day in a week along with teaching both undergraduates and post
graduates. Department is having one gastroscope and a sigmoidoscope and
conducting both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. There are 12 beds
allotted to the department.
