MESSAGE
I am glad to know that
the guntur Medical College is bringing out a Souvenir to mark its Golden
Jubilee year (1946 – 1996).
Established less than a year before India’s independence, the Guntur
Medical Collge was a Symbol of the commitment of the country to the
advancement of medical and technical knowledge.education and health care. It
has amply justified its founder’s optimism. Doctors, Surgeions, and Medical
Technologists produced by the Guntur Medical College have earned world-wide
recognition and renown not only for their excellence but also for their
commitment and service.
Marking adavanced and yet affordable medical facilities available to
the rural and the urban people, especially the poor and the under-privileged,
is one of the major challenges facing our country. I wish the Guntur Medical
College to be in the forefront of achieving thisn objectibve, however
difficult and strenuous the task many be. Rather than become and oasis of
advanced, but expensive medical facility and education, the college must
attempt to become anaffordable
recourse to the needy, the poor and the sick. That will serve not just a
national goal but a much larger ethical and humanitarian purpose. Only by
striving to achieve great goals, great goals, great deeds can be accomplished.
I wish the Golden Jubilee celebrations all success.
